felted pebbles by ronel jordaan

Soft, felted wool pebbles by South African textile artist Ronel Jordaan. I was tipped off about Ronel by K's mom Joanne, who works with Aid to Artisans, a great non-profit that "links artisans to new markets and buyers to culturally meaningful and innovative products". I think Ronel's aesthetic is wonderful and I love that she has trained other women in Johannesburg to felt wool and make these yummy products to snuggle up with. Check out her website for more beautiful images.

handmade: twigs & honey stylish embellishments

These beautiful permanent boutonnieres by Myra Callan, from her twigs & honey Esty shop, are so perfectly executed I now wonder why all us floral folks mess around with fresh ones! Looks like Myra has hit on a great idea - you've got to order with her months in advance. I've also got my eye on this headpiece - do you think I could get away with wearing it to the supermarket?

Myra's also got a wonderful blog, and website for twigs & honey. She's definitely one to watch!

vases: transglass recycled wine and beer bottles

When I was a design student, I always wished designers of environmentally friendly products would look to companies like Porsche for inspiration... you know, make it sexy and the masses will want it. Well, it seems like the last few years I've been getting my wish, and here's a great example - these gorgeous vases and glasses by Emma Woffengen and Tord Boontje for TranSglass. They are manufactured through Artecnica's Design With A Conscience program, and start at $38 on the re:modern website.

"With the help of Aid to Artisans, a non-profit organization providing assistance to artisans worldwide, Artecnica collaborated with Guatemalan craftsmen to bring Emma Woffenden and Tord Boontje’s designs to the market. Combining old-world craftsmanship and sophisticated design, each tranSglass vessel is a unique, one-of-a-kind piece." - quote and images from Artecnica

mstetson blog: very succulent notecards

Oh, the good news just keeps rolling in... I'll be flying to Austin, my ol' adopted hometown, in just about a week. I've been dancing around for days, just thinking about the warm weather, the friends and family, all the hijinx I'll get up to there. And now it's gotten even better - I won a great set of letterpressed notecards over at the stunning MStetson blog. Thanks Lindsay!
