barbeque photoshoot sneak peek

Recently I was involved in a photoshoot out at the Salt Lick Restaurant (best barbeque in Austin), and I can show you just a little bit of it... My partners in crime were the amazing photographer Jesse Ryan, Caroline Colom Vasquez from Paloma's Nest, and artist Kristy Rice of Momental Designs. Kristy gives a nice write up of it on her blog here. You can see the images from the shoot in a magazine this summer! The beautiful painting above is Kristy's interpretation of the bouquet from the shoot.

green bouquet for gruene, texas

I got up super early this week to deliver a portrait bouquet to a bride at sunrise in the quaint little town of Gruene, outside of Austin. Gruene has lots of still-in-use general stores, brick facades and old-fashioned dance halls.

The bouquet has lotus pods, Patience garden roses, white scabiosa, wild onion, viburnum, green Tricks carnation (which looks like moss on a stick-not carnationy at all!), jasmine vine, Australian fern, geranium and bay laurel. Lily grass wrap on handle.

tangerine and green dream

Green and orange is one of my favorite color combinations, especially when I get to use parrot tulips, ranunculus and poppies! Also hiding in there are some fuzzy succulents, eremurus, pussy willow, berzillia berries, bay laurel and geranium foliage. I'll bet it looked gorgeous at night with all the Moroccan tea lights and votives lit. Hopefully I'll be able to post some images of the personal flowers taken by the photographer soon...

fresh wedding professional images

Mollie at Bloom Photography and Bonnie, her second shooter that day, did a spectacular job on the professional images for Becky and Mike's wedding. Make sure to check out their work on their blogs for Bloom, and The Incredibly True Adventures of Lazy Girl.

fresh yellow, white and green wedding

It is no understatement to say that this is my favorite bouquet ever. Lady slipper orchids, yellow and white ranunculus, craspedia, geranium, dusty miller, yellowy-orange pincushions, white sweet peas, fun whispy foliage and ferns from Australia, and peacock feathers.

And the maids bouquets...

This also may be my favorite corsage ever, with smilax curls, ranunculus, and craspedia.

The bride collected vintage milk glass containers and I filled them with yellow and white flowers, moss and succulents. So pretty. She also made the most amazing collection of tissue paper poufs to hang in the reception area at The Crossings. Too bad the weather was cold and wet, it would have been great to have this outside on the beautiful deck overlooking the Hill Country.

jewel-toned wedding

Get ready for lots of hot pink, red and purple... What a fun and over-the-top wedding with Baronesse garden roses, purple vanda orchids, Black Magic roses, purple anemones, pomegranates and red pears, angel moss and lots of other vines and accents. Thanks to my great team of assistants, and to Brooke Rogers at Ruby Rogers Studios who put it all together.

yummy white and butter yellow

A very lovely white and butter yellow wedding, with pool blue ribbon. Can you tell I loved the cake?

I can't wait to see how the images of this hanging votive and orchid piece turn out after the sun went down. I hope it made the whole room all glowy and romantic.

purple and green bouquet

I put together a sweet little bouquet for a portrait session out of purple hydrangea, dark purple callas, green cymbidiums, curly willow whips, scabiosa pods and galax.

Stay tuned for a post coming soon about flower classes! I was so inspired by Sarah and Nicolette's class in Brooklyn that it seemed impossible to resist doing one in Austin.

orange dahlias made the day

As you might have surmised, I love orange, so this wedding was right up my alley. The orange ball dahlias mixed very well with ranunculus, orchids, Bells of Ireland and blue thistle. Unconventional but beautiful! I'll have to post the professional images soon. I can't wait to see the bride with her bouquet of hydrangea, thistle, dahlias and orchids.

brights and whites

This week I created a fun bouquet with pincushion, ranunculus, freesia, dahlias, scabiosa pods, geranium foliage and leucodendron foliage. Love those ranunculus!

Another blue and orange wedding? Here's a sneak peek at a modern wedding coming up later in the month.
