visual art center opening at ut

I went to school in this building for 4 years. Four years of critiques and friends and inside jokes. A dark, awkward, uninviting building, which has now undergone a tremendous renovation at the hands of Lake/Flato Architects. The art building at UT is now something inspiring. I am so pleased I was able to do the flowers for the opening of the new Visual Arts Center.

cranberry, orange, hot pink and green wedding

I'll give you a little sneak peak of the wedding we did at Kali Kate last weekend. Suzi took some images of the bouquets, centerpieces and other details for me, so I can't wait to see what she captured... I loved working with this family, they really gave me free reign to create some amazing details.

flowers for monet's birthday party

How often do you get to do flowers for a great painter's birthday? Well, since the Blanton was throwing Monet a party, I got to do the flowers! Vintage containers filled with lavender, pincushions, hydrangea, ranunculus, anemones, pieris and moss. It wouldn't be complete without snail shells and vintage artist's pigment vials.

purple, pink and white thanksgiving

A fun new client asked me to fill her containers with flowers for Thanksgiving. I used some of the most beautiful garden roses-Baronesse and Piano-along with white peonies, antiqued hydrangea, Pink Tiger and purple mokara orchids, and pieris. The light in her house is amazing! Can I shoot all my arrangements there?

demo at solid gold

I had a great time hanging out with Katie and gang Sunday before the demo at Solid Gold. The weather held out, and I just needed a scarf, not a rain jacket! I started off by creating a non-traditional centerpiece for a Thanksgiving table out of mossy branches, wasp nests (of course), and apothecary bottles-both new and vintage. Also on the slate was a taller buffet piece created in a vintage Haeger vase with driftwood, succulents and Dutchman's Pipe. Fall is pretty mild here in Texas, so I used a lot of fresh greens... not that I don't like fall foliage!

a past floral design demo at sabia

Eeep! Check out this post on Suzi Q's Qblog for beautiful images of another demo we did at Sabia months ago. Thanks for being my own personal documentation expert Suzi!

Suzi's also been posting some wonderful information on business communications - one area where, I for one, could get a lot more organized. She interviewed a group of professionals from all fields and compiled an easy-to-read and understand tutorial on how to communicate in today's confusing world. Check it out!
